Have you ever had an undeniable feeling about something and no matter what you do, you can’t shake that feeling?
I definitely have and every time I ignore it and go with what my rational mind is saying, I regret it.
This is your intuition speaking to you and whether it’s something small like clarifying a detail with someone or something much larger like choosing which apartment to rent, your intuition will always guide you much better than your intellect will.
This article is about learning how to trust your intuition completely despite what your rational mind is saying.

What is Intuition
To learn how to trust your intuition completely, it’s important to understand what intuition is and where it comes from.
Let’s start by understanding more about your existence and the panchakosha or the 5 layers of the Self.
You are much more than flesh and bones, you are pure, infinite consciousness and in between these 2 aspects of you, there are a few different layers.
The first layer is the food layer – this includes the physical body and anything that you can see and interact with.
Next, is the energy layer, then the mind layer, the wisdom layer and finally, the bliss layer.
You reside in the bliss layer – that is your very existence and it contains all the knowledge in existence.
Today, we refer to this part of ourselves as our Higher Self, the Self, our Authentic Self or our Best Self and this part of us is always communicating with us.
Communication from the Self is intuition.

You know you can trust your intuition because the wisdom coming from your intuition is coming from existence itself.
How your Intuition Speaks to you
You intuition doesn’t speak to you using words. Your intuition speaks to you through feelings, sensations in the body and a strong inner knowing.
You may find that you know something without knowing how you know it, you might just have a feeling about it – that is your intuition.
Your intuition is also known as your gut feeling, your primal instinct or your innate wisdom.
How to Recognize your Intuition
The insights given to you by your intuition will more often than not ask you to step out of your comfort zone and do something that you normally wouldn’t do.
And these insights will be unshakeable. As much as you try to rationalize against what your intuition is telling you or find another way, you will find that the wisdom of your intuition is unshakeable.
No matter what you do, your intuition won’t budge.
This is a clear sign that your intuition is speaking to you and that it wants you to do something.

Trust your intuition.
You will always get the best outcome from a situation by listening to and trusting your intuition.
If you feel that your intuition was wrong once upon a time, know that it was never your intuition to begin with.
Intuition cannot be wrong.
What clouds your Intuition
Up until this point, we’ve spoken about what your intuition is, why you can trust your intuition and how your intuition can never be wrong.
By now you might be wondering, if your Higher Self is always communicating with you, why do you only get these gut feelings sometimes?
And why isn’t your intuition always crystal clear?
Recall the panchakosha. There are 3 other layers between your body and your most Authentic Self and these 3 layers are full of impurities.
Let’s look again at the panchakosha:
- Annamaya kosha (food layer)
- Pranamaya kosha (energy layer)
- Manomaya kosha (mind layer)
- Vignanamaya kosha (wisdom layer)
- Anandamaya kosha (bliss layer)
Impurities can exist in all layers of the Self except for the bliss layer and more often than not, they originate from the mind layer.

The mind has 5 vrittis or tendencies and every time you lose your centre and indulge in these tendencies, you increase the amount of noise stored between your physical body and your Highest Self.
The result?
- Your intuition is clouded.
- Your intuitive messages don’t come through as clearly as you would like.
- Your intuition feels far away.
As a byproduct of a voice that rarely seems to speak to you, you don’t trust your intuition.
How to Strengthen your Intuition
Learning how to trust your intuition completely and strengthening your intuition go hand in hand.
Your intuition is most useful to you when you can hear it loud and clear and understand what it’s saying.
To strengthen the quiet voice of your intuition, you must clear out all the things that muffle your intuition.
Here’s where the journey gets interesting.
The subtle things stored in between your Highest Self and your physical body are known as vasanas or impressions. These vasanas form your karma. The very reason you have a physical body is so that you can act out your karma and reach moksha or ultimate liberation.
When you stop overthinking, burn through your karma and raise your vibration, you’ll allow your intuition and the light of the Self to shine through.

How to Trust your Intuition Completely
As you burn through your karma, your intuition will start to speak to you more.
As I mentioned earlier, it will still be asking you to do things that are out of your comfort zone but as you start releasing stress and trauma, letting go of negative thoughts and overcoming self-limiting beliefs, it will become easier and easier for you to trust your intuition.
The more that you listen to your intuition, the more you will see that it will always guide you in the right direction.
Like the two wheels of a bike, these 2 things work together to take you forward on your path toward your Higher Self: burning through your karma and trusting your intuition.
This is the path of healing and it is also the spiritual awakening journey.
By adopting a powerful spiritual practice like yoga and meditation, you can start to trust your intuition and move toward purpose, peace of mind and deeper meaning in life.

Hello dear Carmela,
I’m glad you enjoy reading my posts! I’ve been writing for a long time and it’s funny you mention that, I used to think about writing a book on my journey. It’s still unfolding so I’ll have to wait a few years, but my students will always be the first to know about my endeavors! 🙂

It emphasizes intuition’s role as a direct connection to our higher self in this blog.
Absolutely. Intuition comes from the Self to guide us back home to the Self.
